Securing New Zealand's entry to space

Background
The New Zealand Space Agency has been established under the umbrella of the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment to facilitate the entry and growth of commercial activity from New Zealand.

Challenges and solutions
Mann & Associates were tasked with developing and implementing a full end-to- end security and risk management solution within this emerging industry. The services included stakeholder engagement, tactical security planning, logistics integration, introduction of the PSR, staffing, QA, reporting, emergency services coordination and liaison.

Physical security of hardware has specific challenges. Additionally, software and intellectual property also need to be protected. We have assisted in the development of policies and procedures to ensure licence requirements and security systems are fit for purpose.

Due to the complexity and language used during operations, we spent extensive periods to understand the unique requirements and establish trust to support both commercial and Government agencies.

We now manage the security on an ongoing consultative basis and align with the logistics and health and safety requirements of this growing industry.
